Buying Advice

Now that you know why amber is good for you, how should you go about buying amber?

Beware! There are some sites that sell fake amber.  So, how would you know it is genuine amber? Make sure you make your purchase from a reputable site. These sites would have certified amber so the purchases would come with a certificate of authenticity or would let you know where the amber is sourced.

Contrary to the name, an amber teething necklace should not be chewed or placed anywhere near the child’s mouth. instead, the amber should be in contact with the skin for the energy to be transferred and absorbed.

Make sure the length of the necklace is not so loose that the child may be able to place it in their mouth and chew on it but also not tight enough to choke your child. Most websites sell amber necklaces of varying sizes for this purpose.

It would be best to measure the collar of one of your child’s shirts and use that as a rough guide. You can measure around your child’s ankle and double that size so it may wrap it twice around the ankle.

If your child is tugging at the necklace or finds it uncomfortable, you can use it as an anklet and wrap it twice around the ankle or around the wrist. Make sure it is the correct size and it will not fall off. You can use the baby’s clothing (sock if it is on the ankle and sleeve if it is on the wrist) to cover it.

A good quality necklace should not be easily broken (which then would pose a choking hazard).

To get your child used to the idea of wearing an amber teething necklace, it may also be a good idea to get an amber necklace yourself. This way your child identifies with you and may not be so hesitant to reject it.
