Amber is a fossilized tree resin that gives a soothing, light energy that is both calming and energizing at the same time. It is used for medicinal purposes for calming the mind, healing by drawing sickness out of the body and promoting blood circulation.
Due to these properties, many parents have used amber for their child’s teething, which helps soothe and hopefully alleviate some of the pain children feel. Of course, it is up to you to use as you see fit, but is not to take the place of professional medical advice.
Baltic Amber
Throughout the past 5,000 years, most of the amber in the world has come from the Baltic region. There is a famous collection spot along the Baltic Sea called the Amber Coast. In recent years, the majority of the world’s amber has come from a more limited portion of the Baltic, the Kaliningrad Oblast, a Russian sea port area between Poland and Lithuania. Amber from the Baltic states is older, and therefore preferred on the market.
The other source of amber on the market today is from the Dominican Republic. Amber from the Dominican Republic is more likely to have insect or plant inclusions; which to some make them more appealing specimen as opposed to Baltic amber.
